ABOUT THE FELLOWSHIP: DEADLINE SEPTEMBER 22nd

Artists and creative professionals in New York City are encouraged to apply with ideas for projects that expand their practice beyond its traditional boundaries. The Fellowship for Utopian Practice is a process-based fellowship, and Culture Push will help Fellows develop big ideas that have real world applications. See our guidelines to learn more about the Fellowship, applicant eligibility and application requirements.  We are looking for highly interactive projects that engage the public and push the boundaries of how art can exist in the world. The Fellows will have a year-long tenure that begins in the late Fall 2017.

Begun in 2012, the Fellowship has supported twenty-nine projects that explore many different subjects, such as: colonialism’s affect on the relationship between Dominicans and Haitians, the legacy of Black female authors, the architecture of civil resistance, choreography as a tool for creating solidarity with incarcerated individuals, public access and redesign of NYC waterways, and accessible forms of sustainability. Visit our website to learn more about past Fellows’ projects
