Call for Artists: Solo or Group Exhibitions

The McMaster Gallery is seeking Solo and Group Exhibition Proposals for the 2018-2019 academic year.

The gallery resides in the University of South Carolina’s School of Visual Art and Design located in downtown Columbia, South Carolina. The gallery has about 900 square feet of space with over 140 linear feet of wall space.

Proposals will be accepted through December 15, 2017 and works in all media will be considered. Notification of acceptance will sent by February 2, 2018.

To apply, please send the following: 

1) Cover Letter, please include the following:

-Brief biographical information, along with details of the intention of the exhbition you are proposing. Include conceptual motivations, materials and processes, and the installation process.
-Describe how you and your work would interface and appeal to the diverse progam offerings and student body of the School of Visual Art and Design.
-If granted additional support to be a visiting artist describe the activities you propose while in residence, such as: public lecture; addtional presentation to select students; workshops; graduate critiques; and/or class visits.

2) 20 individual jpeg images of work (300 dpi lowest resolution) No slides, please.

3) A works list with artist’s name, title, media, size, and date

4) A current resumé or curriculum vitae

5) An artist or curatorial statement 

Please email all of the above materials via one pdf file no larger than 20MB to gunterkm@mailbox.sc.edu with the subject line “2018-2019 Exhibition Proposal."
