Number is seeking proposals for our 93rd issue. We’re looking for essays, exhibition reviews, interviews, feature articles and regional updates. Deadlines: December 22 for proposals. January 5th for completed articles

Issue: No.93 / Beckon The Vulture: The Shape of Drawing Now

Guest Editor: Pete Schulte of the Fuel and Lumber Company  

The act of drawing, historically limited to a preparatory activity, has long since evolved into a primary means of expression capable of mediating surface, space, time, and technology – doing so without collecting much of the fraught historical baggage that saddles contemporary painting and sculpture.  From the conventional sketch to radical acts of experimentation, issue NO. 93 invites contributions from artists, critics, and historians exploring diverse perspectives in contemporary drawing as well as the historical precedents that have influenced current perceptions of the medium.

Payment scale:   Regional Update (500 words)— $50

Review (700-1000 words)—$75

Interview (1000-1500 words)—$100

 

Feature Article (1000-1500 words)—$100
