Root Division invites artists working in all media to submit work for SIMMER to be presented at Root Division in April 2018.

Presented in conjunction with TASTE, Root Division’s annual culinary event, SIMMER will feature artists whose process welcomes and embraces slowness. Much like the "slow food movement" of the culinary world, the artists are informed by durational, emergent, intimate, and heavily process-driven practices that are both subtle and visceral. SIMMER will exhibit work that reflects this methodology resulting in different outcomes ranging from sound installation, performance, charcoal drawings, heavily layered figurative painting and more.

This call for entries is meant to complete a show that currently includes the work of Anne Albagli, Brad Brown, Hunter Franks, Masako Miyazaki, Harriet Poznansky and Minji Sohn.

Deadline for Submission: Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 11:59 pm

Exhibition Dates: March 28 - April 19, 2018

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

To complete your submission, please fill out this online submission form.

2. Email to submissions@rootdivision.org containing all of the below:

- Artist Statement
- Images: Artists may submit up to four jpeg images of completed works. Video links can be hyperlinked in the submission form. If you are proposing a new work, please send images of completed projects with your proposal.

3. $10 Submission Fee

or by submitting a $10 check or money order made payable to Root Division, mailed to: Root Division, Attn: SIMMER 1131 Mission St., San Francisco, CA 94103.

Please note that the $10 fee must be on file by February 1st, 2018 at 11:59 pm for the email submission to be considered.

Submissions will also be accepted via USPS and can be mailed to:

If your submission is mailed, we prefer that all documents are saved as either word docs (.doc) or PDFs (.pdf) and burned to a CD with your images rather than printed.

Deadline for Submission: Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 11:59 pm

SELECTED ARTISTS:
Artists will be notified about inclusion by February 15, 2018.
