The Steven Petrow LGBTQ Fellowship is open to applicants working in all genres (writers, visual artists, and/or composers) and consists of a fully-funded two-week residency at VCCA. This fellowship includes a private room, board, and an individual work studio. Eligible applicants must self-identify as LGBTQ. Steven Petrow is a journalist and book author whose own work about LGBTQ issues found much support at VCCA over the past decade.

The Virginia Center for the Creative Arts (VCCA) is a unique Virginia-based organization of national stature and international impact. VCCA’s mission is to provide creative space for the world’s best artists to create their finest literature, visual art and music. VCCA hosts over 400 artist Fellows at its Mt. San Angelo facility in Amherst, VA and the Moulin à Nef in Auvillar, France. The artists who come to VCCA, whether emerging or established, are serious professionals selected by a peer review jury on the basis of the important or innovative work they are doing in their respective fields. VCCA Fellows have been honored with just about every prestigious award there is, including the Pulitzer Prize, the National Book Award and the MacArthur “Genius Grant”.
