Summer Artist-In-Residency

Type: Residencies, Workshops, Exchanges [View all]
Posted by: GoggleWorks Center for the Arts
Deadline: Fri, March 2nd, 2018

June 4 - August 10, 2018 (10 weeks)
Application Fee: $30

GoggleWorks Center for the Arts will offer three residencies in the summer of 2018 to outstanding visual artists who will spend 10-weeks on our campus developing a project/body of work. The Summer Artist-in-Residence Program was created to infuse new, creative energy to the GoggleWorks community with an emphasis on facilitating cross-disciplinary experimentation. The residency provides personal studio space, access to GoggleWorks’ seven communal studios (ceramics, warm glass, hot glass, photography, printmaking, metalsmithing, and wood), and a culminating exhibition showcasing the residents’ work.

Applicants can choose to submit a project-based application or portfolio-based application. Selection of residents is highly competitive and based on the strength of the applicant’s project proposal and/or quality of work and experience. Residents should be self-motivated and enthusiastic, dedicated to their artwork, and enjoy working with other people in a communal studio setting. M.F.A. or equivalent experience is strongly preferred.

The Summer Artist-in-Residence program provides: studio space with 24/7 acces (fully-funded), access to one or more of GoggleWorks’ seven communal studios, shared housing conveniently located across the street from campus (fully-funded), $2000 living stipend, travel stipend (up to $500), material stipend, opportunity to teach in GoggleWorks’ community arts programs, documentation, and culminating exhibition. The accepted residents agree to present an artist talk and complete their proposed project or body of work within the residency time frame.
