Locust Projects is currently running an OPEN CALL for exhibition proposals, with the aim of enabling local, national, and international visual artists to experiment with new ideas and media. We encourage artists to propose experimental, site-specific projects that are engaging and risk-taking that extend your practice in concept, scale, and/or scope. We encourage artists from all backgrounds and working in any medium looking to present experimental projects to apply.
We accept applications year-round via this online submission process. Proposals will be reviewed every few months, on a rolling basis. Incomplete proposals will not be considered.
We will contact artists who are selected to discuss the proposal in further detail, estimate costs and scheduling feasibility. Contracted artists’ will receive a project budget which may be applied towards production/fabrication, materials, professional/technical support, installation/construction labor and assistants, shipping, and other costs above and beyond basic infrastructure provided by Locust Projects. They will also receive a W.A.G.E. certified rate stipend for their artistic labor and time and housing for out-of-town artists for the duration of the installation (and for research prior depending on availability).
We have two available spaces for artists to submit proposals. Proposals should only be for one of the two spaces; proposals that require use of both spaces will not be considered.

Locust Projects is committed to presenting new work. Proposals should only include work that has never been presented before. As an alternative arts space, we encourage artistic experimentation as well as cross-disciplinary explorations. Successful applicants often propose projects in new media or working at a scale or conceptual scope that they have never explored before. We present artists working in any medium and any stage in their career as long as the work they propose for Locust Projects is experimental and/or pushes their practice in new directions. Collectives and artist collaborations are encouraged to apply as long as the work is presented as a singular vision. We are not a traditional gallery space. If the exhibition could easily be presented in a traditional gallery setting or could be realized without the support of our organization, it is unlikely for us to consider your proposal. We do not host traveling exhibitions, retrospectives, or group shows We are not a commercial gallery, we do not offer artist representation. Proposals should be ambitious in scope but realistic in their ability to be executed in the time and budget provided.
Locust Projects receives a large number of submissions and unfortunately we are not able to offer individual feedback on submissions. We will be in touch with you directly if we are interested in developing your project.

Submission Requirements
All submissions should be formatted as one PDF no larger than 5mb containing all the following materials:
• Project description (max. 250 words)
• Project floor plan/rendering of proposed project
• General artist statement (max. 150 words)
• CV or Resume
• Up to eight images of previous/related work
• Image details
