Deadline: Sun, July 1st, 2018

PlySpace is an artist-in-residence program based in the Emily Kimbrough Historic District in downtown Muncie, Indiana and produced by Muncie Arts and Culture Council. PlySpace is pleased to announce the application for the Fall 2018 Residency Term is now open with a submission deadline of July 1, 2018.

Muncie Arts and Culture Council invites applications for PlySpace from emerging and established practitioners and small collaboratives working in areas including but not limited to painting, sculpture, drawing, printmaking, glass, metals, ceramics, performance, photography, video/film, time-based media, writing, poetry, theatre, non-object based practice, and social practice. Two PlySpace Residents and one Resident Fellow will be selected for the Fall 2018 term with flexible residency dates between mid-September and mid-November 2018. All residents will receive lodging, studio space, and a stipend. Residents selected to participate as a PlySpace Resident Fellow will work with the School of Art at Ball State University and receive additional funding for project and living expenses.

In addition to providing residents with dedicated time and space to investigate and pursue their own practice, PlySpace serves as a platform to connect visiting residents with local organizations in order to facilitate collaborative projects that benefit the citizens of Muncie as well as the program residents. Applicants are asked to propose a personal project as the primary focus of their residency as well as a community project to be completed in partnership with a community collaborator. PlySpace will assist each resident in refining their proposed collaboration and connect them with an appropriate community organization. More information about the Community Collaboration aspect of the program is available on the Community Collaborations page on the PlySpace website.

Interested applicants should visit the Application Guidelines page to learn more about the application process, residency structure, and community collaboration requirements. All digital applications must be submitted via Submittable by July 1, 2018, at 11:59 PM. Applications submitted before June 25th benefit from an early application fee of $25. Applications submitted between June 26th (12:00 AM) and July 1st (11:59 PM) require a last-chance submission fee of $40. Please do not send paper or email applications. The application fee cannot be waived. Questions or comments about the program and application process can be directed to hello@plyspace.org. Please join our mailing list to receive notifications for future calls for application, news updates, and collaborator information from PlySpace.

PlySpace is a program of Muncie Arts and Culture Council in partnership with the City of Muncie, Ball State University School of Art, and Sustainable Muncie Corporation. PlySpace is generously supported by the National Endowment for the Arts.
