The 6th Annual 2018 FL3TCH3R EXHIBIT calls for entries for juried exhibit showing Oct 8 to Dec 14, 2018 hosted by Reece Museum ETSU, Johnson City, TN. Awards $1000.
Entries will be selected by 2018 Juror and graphic designer, David Carson, named the art director of the era by Creative Review, London. American graphic designer, art director and surfer David Carson is best known for his innovative magazine design, in particular for Ray Gun magazine, and experimental typography that has been widely imitated and which influenced an era of graphic design.
Carson’s work has been published in over 150 magazine and newspaper articles around the world, including Eye, Idea, The New York Times, The Guardian, Metropolis, Domas, Wired and Émigré (who, by the way, devoted an entire issue to his work). A feature in Newsweek magazine said of Carson: “He changed the public face of graphic design.”
Exhibit is in memory of Fletcher H. Dyer, 22, senior in Art and Design at ETSU, who was lost in 2009 accident in Johnson City, TN. As an artist & designer, his passion for art was a vehicle that allowed him to mirror his passion and marry it to a concern for social and political issues through art. The exhibit honors Dyer’s legacy & provides a venue for artists to continue the dialogue. Proceeds after expenses fund the Fletcher H. Dyer Scholarship Fund.
$40 fee(3 entries) by 8/22; $45 fee (3 entries) 8/23-31; $10 each add’l entry.
