INSTINC Residency Programme (Singapore)

Type: Residencies, Workshops, Exchanges [View all]
Posted by: INSTINC Art Space
Deadline: Sat, September 1st, 2018

Established in 2004, INSTINC is an artist-run institution that promotes a new language of art to realize a wide array of art

forms, including but not limited to installation, performance and video art. In 2009, INSTINC launched its own Artist-in-

Residency programme to provide a unique framework for young artists with limited experience to bypass large-scale

institutional residences and take on a space where they are able to engage in various experiments, foster dialogue, involve

critical discussion, cultivate professional and personal connections and examine the potentials of contemporary artistic

production. As Singapore is fast becoming an art incubator; recently named as one of the world’s top 12 cities to watch for

exciting contemporary art and internationally recognized for its dynamic, young, contemporary arts scene, since inception,

INSTINC has introduced 65 artists of 20 nationalities and a diverse range of disciplines to vibrant Clarke Quay, Singapore,

where we are situated.

Our artist residents are welcomed to our building’s facilities, including the gym, pool, and jacuzzi. In addition, we also

commit to assisting our artists with media campaign and exhibition setup, using our existing connections to the Singaporean

art world.

Artists can choose to stay between 1 and 3 months at a reasonable rate.
