Type: Exhibition Opportunities [View all]
Posted by: Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts
Deadline: Sun, July 29th, 2018
Call for Juried Exibition
Exhibitions Dates: Sept. 27 – Nov. 18, 2018, opening reception Thursday Sept. 27, 5pm – 8pm
The exhibition brings to MCLA Gallery 51 a reflection and conversation on the gender continuum—exploring cultural and social issues of gender roles, norms and identification.
Because we all deal with issues of gender and sexuality, we hope to show work from a variety of perspectives across and beyond the spectrum. With work that examines masculinity, femininity and gender identifications between and outside of this binary. We encourage submissions from artists who have used their work to examine, question, confront and criticize the relationships between gender and society.
MCLA Gallery 51, run by the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts since 2005, exhibits work from a wide range of contemporary artists. The gallery is located in downtown North Adams, MA – 2 blocks from MASS MoCA, and hosts 8-10 exhibitions each year and countless events and happenings. As an educational and community space Gallery 51 provides opportunities for cross-disciplinary engagement, exploration of profound questions and serves as a hub of cultural activity for students of MCLA and the greater Berkshire community alike.
