Live Webinar
Social media is a central part of how we all communicate. Curators are increasingly encouraged to create public, digital selves, either in a professional capacity or privately, in order to help promote and expand networks for themselves and their organizations. They have also been taking advantage of social media platforms to discover emerging artists, new programs and different forms of artistic experience.
In this webinar we will discuss the challenges and advantages of social media activity for curators in the non-profit sector. Together we’ll dig into questions such as: What are the inherent challenges in shaping and navigating our public personas? How does one define the boundaries of public and private? Is it possible to build meaningful curatorial acts on social platforms?
Meet the Speakers: Graham C. Boettcher, The R. Hugh Daniel Director, Birmingham Museum of Art Fernanda Pitta, Senior Curator at Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo; Lecturer in the History of Art at the Escola da Cidade, in São Paulo; Moderator Jennifer Scanlan, Curatorial and Exhibitions Director, Oklahoma Contemporary Masha Turchinsky, Director, Hudson River Museum

This coming year of webinar topics have been developed around the central theme of the “outward-facing-curator,” dissecting ways in which curators collaborate and engage with audiences internally & externally.
