DocuFlorida II Call For Artists!

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION:

The Pensacola Museum of Art at the University of West Florida and the T.T. Wentworth, Jr. Florida State Museum are partnering to invite artists to submit to an open call for photographic and moving image-based
work to the exhibition,
DocuFlorida II: Projections
and Prints.

DocuFlorida, began in 2017 as an annual exhibition of projected photographic images focused on the current environment and landscapes of Florida, the Gulf Coast, and the Southeast Region of the U.S. It is intended as a site-specific iteration of Documerica, the photographic documentary project that was sponsored by the Environmental Protection Agency in the 1970s.

DocuFlorida II: Projections and Prints will include open call digital submissions that will be projected along with selected and printed color photographs by featured Florida-based photographer, Noelle McCleaf. The exhibition will be on view at the T.T. Wentworth, Jr. Florida State Museum on the second floor from November 16, 2018 through May 17, 2019.

DocuFlorida II: Projections and Prints is co-curated by: Lowell Bassett (Chief Curator, UWF Historic Trust), Felicia E. Gail(Curator of Exhibitions, Pensacola Museum of Art) andValerie George (Professor of Art, UWF Department of Art) and will be on view simultaneous to Searching for the Seventies: The DOCUMERICA Photography Project featuring the photographs of several internationally recognized photographers like Lynthia Scott Eiler, Danny Lyon, Charles O Rear, and more. DocuFlorida was first exhibited at Pensacola Museum of Art in 2017 and was curated by Amy Bowman-McElhone (AVP UWF Historic Trust, Director & Chief Curator Pensacola Museum of Art) and Felicia E. Gail.   Open Call For Artists 2018:

Established, emerging, and nascent artists and photographers are invited to submit their digital image files to the DocuFlorida II: Projections and Prints Open Call For Artists. Click here to see guidelines.

All open call images selected for exhibition will be digitally projected, and may include video, digitally captured images, and scanned images from film. Submissions should address the environment in the rural and/or urban landscapes of the region. We are seeking works with an interpretive lens focused on socio-cultural and socio-spatial conditions of natural and built environments of our larger region, which is deeply informed by river systems, gulf waters, and their associated industries and economic enterprises. By zooming in on a regional level, we hope to share this point of view with global communities at large.
