One-week ceramics workshop with Lindsay Pichaske
Type: Residencies, Workshops, Exchanges [View all]
Posted by: Montgomery College
Deadline: Sun, June 16th, 2019
Take your craft to a new level with our one-week intensives, packing 30 hours of class into five days. Delve into a concentrated topic or process, led by an expert in her field.
Topic: Uncanny Animal Heads
Explore the narrative, emotional, and conceptual potential of the animal head in clay. Throughout this process, we will draw inspiration from personal experience, archetypes, and observations in the natural and manufactured world. Beginning with small head studies, we will translate these into life-sized or ½ scale animal heads. Discover Lindsay Pichaske’s building methods, including solid construction with pipe armature, slab building, and sculpting facial features. Learn about mixed media and ‘cold’ surfaces, display mounts and stands, firing in sections, and rejoining.
Instructor: Lindsay Pichaske
