Art Gallery Coordinator 

Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts and Sciences(LBIF), located on Long Beach Island in New Jersey, is seeking the immediate hire of a qualified candidate for the position of Art Gallery Coordinator to manage, install and direct our art gallery operations. The LBIF hosts 12 art exhibitions a year that feature 2D, 3D, outdoor and video artwork. This position is ideal for a BFA/MFA graduate.

This position starts immediately and salary is commensurate with experience. Hours are up to 35 hours per week as assigned, with a flexible work schedule. Evening and weekends hours are often required to for Gallery receptions and lectures.

 Applicant must be authorized to work in the United States and must be willing to undergo a back ground check.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Gallery Coordinator manages all aspects of our art exhibitions and works closely with the LBIF Art Committee and the Executive Director.

DUTIES

The Gallery Coordinator must be able to organize and install exhibitions. In the summer season there are new exhibitions installed and de-installed every three weeks. The Gallery Coordinator is responsible for clerical work, design of promotional materials, all art exhibition activities including receptions, communication with artists, archiving and research.

SKILLS

A background in art, including art history.

Highly organized with attention to detail. The Coordinator must be able to work independently.

Excellent writing skills.

Responsible, punctual and is careful when handling artwork, with an understanding how artwork needs to be displayed. Candidate must be able to handle the installation of exhibition artwork.

Demonstrates positive attitude and actions through a display of courtesy and cooperation.

Technical skills required include: Office 365, Powerpoint, Photography/Photoshop, Graphic Design (Adobe Suite), Social Media. Web Design using the Wordpress platform is a plus.

Requirements include a BFA degree or enrollment in a program leading to a BFA degree or an MFA degree or enrollment in a program leading to a MFA degree.
