Posted by: Artspace
Deadline: Sun, July 28th, 2019
Artspace is accepting proposals for projects that explore the local histories and living legacies of the New Haven chapter of the Black Panther Party on the 50th Anniversary of the May Day trial. We invite artists and their collaborators to propose projects that will become part of a group show, which will remain on display to the public from May 16-September 12, 2020.We welcome proposals in all mediums, as well as concepts for community events, performances and participatory workshops that could take place at Artspace, or in other parts of our city. In addition to the new commissions created by the 1-3 artists who will be selected from this open call, the show will feature new commissions by Chloë Bass, Melanie Crean, Kameelah Janan Rasheed and Miguel Luciano.
This call is only for Connecticut artists or artists with strong ties to Connecticut.
Artists will be asked to prepare and submit a budget for their proposal, and the selected artist(s) will receive $3,000 to cover the total cost of their participation (this includes labor, materials, travel, etc.). We will provide the selected artist(s) with access to local archives and archivists, facilitate meetings with local knowledge holders, and provide staff research support.
We are accepting application through July 28. There is no cost to apply.
