Solo Exhibition with Residency: 2020-21

Type: Residencies, Workshops, Exchanges [View all]
Posted by: The Gallery at Penn College
Deadline: Fri, November 1st, 2019

The Gallery at Penn College seeks artists for the 2020-21 Artist-in-Residence Program.

The Material Matters residency is open to artists working with materials from Pennsylvania’s history (past, present, or future). Examples of materials include steel, wood, paper, fiber, plastics, glass, electronics, and more. This short-term AIR program is funded by the National Endowment for the Arts. Two artists will be selected for solo exhibitions accompanied by five-day residencies: one in late Fall 2020 and one in Winter/Spring 2021.

The selected artists will offer three interactive workshops for groups such as K-12 art educators, veterans, college students, or the general public; a gallery talk; other related public programming that will engage the community, such as lectures or tours, are encouraged. These events offer the opportunity to extend the reach of the exhibit, expand access to the arts for students in our rural area, and strengthen our community through the arts. Programs will be free and open to the public.

The Gallery is located in Williamsport, PA, on the campus of Pennsylvania College of Technology, a nationally recognized leader in applied technology education. Artists will have the opportunity to work in the campus Makerspace, which contains 3D printers, Laser cutter, CNC Router, Mig and Tig welding, full woodshop, Bernina sewing machine and serger, and more.

We are also accepting applications for solo exhibitions without accompanying residency for 2020-21 (deadline November 1) and 2021-22 (deadline August 1, 2020).
