Posted by: American Research Center in Egypt
Deadline: Wed, January 15th, 2020
The American Research Center in Egypt (ARCE) offers fully funded fellowships and a research associate program for American scholars to conduct research in Egypt. Fellowship disciplines include anthropology, archaeology, architecture, fine art, art history, Coptic studies, economics, Egyptology, ethnomusicology, history, humanistic social sciences, Islamic studies, literature, and religious studies. Program alumni serve as directors and faculty of Middle Eastern studies and history departments at leading universities, in the United States and abroad, and as curators of Egyptian and Near Eastern art collections at major museums and research institutions.
Decades of close collaboration with the Egyptian ministries and institutions enables ARCE to provide fellows with solid administrative support and advice that eases access to Egyptian museums, monuments, archaeological sites, research libraries, archives and Egyptian institutions of higher education.
Fellowships are open to U.S. citizen pre-doctoral candidates (ABD), postdoctoral scholars, faculty and senior scholars at museums, universities and institutions worldwide for a minimum stay of three months and a maximum stay of 12 months. The National Endowment for the Humanities will fund one four-month postdoctoral scholar in 2020-2021. Additional funding provided by the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs through the Council of American Overseas Research Centers will fund 3-5 pre- or postdoctoral scholars.
Applications open November 1, 2019; submission deadline January 15, 2020. For additional information, click here.
