Deadline: Mon, February 3rd, 2020

Colibri Gallery announces a call for portfolio submissions for artists seeking gallery representation. The gallery will review submitted artwork for inclusion in their newly renovated venue beginning in January with an initial deadline of February 3rd. The call is open to emerging and established California artists. All media are welcome with a retail value up to $5,000 and a size up to 3’x4’ except reproductions/giclees and video.

Colibri Art and Framing is located on the main street in downtown Morgan Hill at the Southern tip of Silicon Valley in the San Francisco Bay Area. Known as an upscale leisure and residential community for Silicon Valley, Morgan Hill is also the gateway to the historic wine growing region of Santa Clara Valley.

For the past ten years, Colibri Art and Framing has been a high-end custom frame shop with a strong community and philanthropic presence. Artists will benefit from this with a subscriber email list of 2300 and a mailing list of 4700, great downtown visibility, and a significant discount on framing. With the addition of a professional art gallery, Colibri Art and Framing aims to be an art destination for the greater Bay Area. To this end, selected artists will be invited to talk about their artwork to the community during exhibition openings and special events.

Interested artists must submit a short bio, artist statement, C.V., and up to 10 jpeg images sized to 2000 pixels on the longest side at 72 dpi and labeled “lastname_firstname_#.jpg with # representing images 1-10. Artists must also submit a corresponding list of images with title, dimensions, media, cost, and year completed. Please email to colibriartgallery@gmail.com by February 3rd. Artists will be notified of acceptance by February 10th.

Proper representation of artwork is required. Gallery commission will be 20-40% depending on sale price. The artwork will be exhibited at the gallery for an initial period of 6 months. The gallery will insure artwork while it is at the gallery and will pay for shipping back to the artist if it is unsold.

The jurors are Daniel McCranie and Ellie Honl. Daniel has been the owner of Colibri Art and Framing since 2016. Ellie has her MFA in printmaking and taught at universities and art centers across the country before joining Colibri as general manager in 2018.
