PIEDMONT CRAFTSMEN, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit Guild, created in 1963 and located in Winston-Salem, NC, which promotes the excellence and value of fine craft and represents approximately 400 artists working across the spectrum all fine craft media.  We promote our artists and their work through economic opportunities created in our Gallery, annual Craft Fair, Exhibitions, and teaching opportunities in our Educational Programs. Artists represented in our Guild are juried Exhibiting Members. We accept applications to apply for Exhibiting Membership annually through a two-stage jury process beginning each January and commencing at our annual Craft Fair in November. Whether you are a craft artist working in traditional techniques or combining the handmade with the latest technology, we encourage you to join us as co-creators in the future of fine craft.

BENEFITS OF EXHIBITING MEMBERSHIP:  Benefits of Exhibiting Membership include the opportunity to consign work in our Shop, located in the heart of downtown Winston-Salem, NC; sell work at the annual Piedmont Craftsmen’s Craft Fair, one of the Southeast’s premier, long-running, fairs, which takes place every November, the weekend before Thanksgiving; participate in exhibitions in the Gallery, cultural institutions, and other businesses; an individual artist page on our website, with examples of your work and links to your personal website; referrals for commissions; opportunities to participate in our Educational Programs, including teaching workshops in schools and the community, speaking on panel discussions, and public demonstrations: eligibility to serve on the board and committees, as well as voting privileges; opportunities to network with fellow artists and collectors; and a Shop discount. Exhibiting Membership is also tax-deductible. A complete Exhibiting Member Benefits Chart may be found on our website at http://piedmontcraftsmen.org/membership-and-support/exhibiting-members/

The selection committee changes each year and consists of Exhibiting Members and art professionals. Board Members are not eligible to serve on the selection committee.  COMPLETE DETAILS ABOUT OUR CALL CAN BE FOUND AT https://www.zapplication.org/event-info.php?ID=8293

     Stage 1-The Image Jury:

·      From January until the beginning of April, applicants must submit a portfolio of digital images through our online image jury system hosted by ZAPP, in partnership with Western States Arts Federation (WESTAF).  To submit images, visit www.zapplication.org and set up your artist profile. ZAPP is very user-friendly with wonderful tech support and may be used to submit work to other artist calls.  Submitted images should showcase technical skill and vision in a cohesive body of work. Artists working in more than one media must apply separately for each craft category.  Artists will be notified in May or June, whether or not they are eligible to move on to the Object Jury.  Initial Application Fee: $25.00

     Stage 2- The Object Jury:

·      The Object Jury takes place during Piedmont Craftsmen’s annual Craft Fair at the Benton Convention Center in Winston-Salem, NC every November, the weekend before Thanksgiving.  To participate, applicants must submit examples of work by purchasing a Booth or the Group Booth at a lower cost at the annual Craft Fair This choice does not affect the committee’s decisions.  Panelists for the Jury consist of Exhibiting Member peers in your craft category and rotate each year.  Booth Cost: Please email us about cost of the booth at email provided below. Payment plans are available and detailed in the links provided below.

 ACCEPTANCE INTO THE GUILD:

·      Once accepted, Exhibiting Members retain membership for life by paying annual dues, and do not need to re-apply.  Membership may also be ended at any time.  Annual Dues are $75.00.  Artists not accepted at either stage are encouraged to re-apply. Piedmont Craftsmen’s staff is happy to offer feedback.
