 CALL TO ENTER: "WORKS ON PAPER"

 This is a wonderful opportunity for artists and art educators to exhibit their work at the LBIF this summer.

At this time there are no plans to switch to an online format and the gallery exhibition is still planned, with a catalog.

 

WORKS ON PAPER 2020 is the 22nd Annual National Juried Competition and Exhibition at the Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts & Sciences, Long Beach Island, New Jersey. Works on Paper can include but is not limited to Drawing, Painting on Paper, hand pulled Prints, Photographic Prints, Digital Works on Paper, and Paper constructions that can be wall hung.  The competition and exhibition is open to emerging as well as established artists working in the continental US only. A catalog of selected artwork is planned.

 

The Juror for 2020 is Sarah Suzuki, Curator of Drawings and Prints at MOMA, the Museum of Modern Art, NYC.

THE JUROR:

 

Sarah Suzuki is Curator of Drawings and Prints at the Museum of Modern Art. Ms. Suzuki was appointed Director, Opening of the new Museum, at The Museum of Modern Art in 2018. In this role, she oversaw the planning and implementation of all aspects of the Museum’s renovation and expansion project. Serving as a senior liaison and project manager for the Museum director and senior staff, she worked across all departments, regarding MoMA’s reopening exhibition program, marketing and communications strategies, audience and visitor experience, and physical plant. Ms. Suzuki continues to serve as Curator in The Department of Drawings and Prints.

 

 

AWARDS:

 

Cash Awards will be announced at the reception $500 first prize, $250 second prize, $100 third prize; and three honorable mentions. Other awards to be announced. Artists are not required to attend the reception. Artists who receive an award and do not in attend the reception will receive their check by mail.

 

ABOUT THE LBIF:

 

The Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts & Sciences (LBIF) was established in 1948 as a non-profit institution by artist Boris Blai to provide arts and educational opportunities.  Blai, a sculptor and founding Dean of Tyler School of Art, Temple University, had a vision that through exceptional art exhibitions, classes, and cultural activities the LBIF could provide an opportunity to experience and share quality arts and cultural programming.  For more than 72 years the LBIF has delivered this mission through its Exhibition programs, Visiting Artists programs, Artist Residency, Workshops and Classes, and Retreat Program.
