DFW ART HISTORIANS NETWORK:
Announcing the creation of the Dallas/Fort Worth Art Historians Network, an organization devoted to gathering the metropolitan area's academics, museum professionals, and independent scholars together to promote the scholarly study of art and architectural history in all fields. An initiative of Richard R. Brettell, the Margaret MacDermott Distinguished Chair of Arts & Aesthetics at the University of Texas at Dallas, the group has a four person executive committee reflecting the diversity of the larger community and has planned to launch itself in the fall of 2012 with the following;
1. a bi-monthly e-newsletter to all members with simple listings of lectures, visitors, exhibition openings, noteworthy museum acquisitions, etc.
2. an annual social gathering at an important institution or private collection so that all who are able can meet and chat.
