Call For Submissions – Online Magazine
Archives of Women Artists, Research and Exhibitions

The AWARE association: Archives of Women Artists, Research and Exhibitions, was founded in June 2014 to improve the exposure of 20th century women artists, particularly through symposiums and study days, an award, exhibitions visits, and the enhancement of a documentary platform accessible to all: www.awarewomenartists.com.

This website contains a “Magazine” section, developed since autumn 2015, in which one to three articles a month is/are published, which have been commissioned or selected by an editorial committee of university professors, scientific museum staff, curators, and publisher. Research articles are thus published, along with reviews of exhibitions, reportages on major events from the art world, and interviews. In order to give research greater visible from the outset, some dissertation abstracts of research theses (Master 1 and 2 or equivalent level) are also published.

Any Master’s research thesis exclusively concerning one or more 20th century women artist(s) in the field of the visual arts and/or concerning an issue unique to women artists and that has been defended in 2016, 2017, or 2018 may be presented.

Authors are invited to submit a short summary (200 words maximum, in Word or Open Office format, in French or English) presenting the subject and its problematic, including a title (even a working title), and mentioning the research director, institution, and diploma where the research has been conducted and the date of the oral presentation of the thesis, by 1 July to info@aware-art.org (subject of the email: “Call for Submission – Research Thesis”).

The editorial committee of AWARE will make its selection in July of the proposals that seem the most pertinent and will inform the authors before the end of the month.

In the event of a positive response, the definitive texts (450/500 words) must clearly outline the subject’s problematic and open up research perspectives. A precise iconography of 2 to 5 visuals will be requested to illustrate the text. The text will be translated into English or French by the AWARE association and published on the bilingual website (www.awarewomenartists.com/magazine) over the period from October 2018 to spring 2019.
