Studio Montclair call for entries: "Inspired by... Quilts"

For this exhibit, artists are invited to submit works of art that are inspired by the antique quilt collection at the Montclair History Center. We are defining inspiration broadly to include a shape, a color, a process, materials, or even a reaction to words that describe a quilt or the women who made them and their place in society. Please note: Existing artwork that fits this theme may be submitted for this call.

Pictures and descriptions of the quilts are available on Studio Montclair’s website, and a selection will be on display at the Crane House and Historic YWCA in Montclair during the months of April and May (Wednesday afternoons at 1 and by appointment). Click here for more information.

IMPORTANT DATES

Exhibit Dates: September 5 - October 19, 2019

Quilt Viewing: Quilts may be viewed at the Crane House (110 Orange Road in Montclair) on Wednesday afternoons at 1 and by appointment – (973) 744-1796 during the months of April and May

Entry Deadline: Sunday, June 30, 2019

Notification Date: Friday, July 12, 2019

Opening Reception: Friday, September 6, 2019, from 7 to 9 pm

Delivery of Artwork by Hand: August 28 - 31 during regular Gallery Hours.

Delivery of Artwork by Shipping: by August 30, 2019

Pickup of unsold artwork: October 23 thru 26 during regular Gallery Hours.
