Summar: 12-month, remote fellowships provide support for placing talented, entrepreneurial recent PhDs in art and architectural history and related fields in organizations around the country, to help communities respond to issues caused by the COVID-19 crisis and advance public understanding of the pandemic.

The American Council of Learned Societies, along with 6 nonprofit cultural organizations, are offering year-long remote opportunities for up to 6 recent art history, architectural history, or visual studies PhDs to contribute to pressing public humanities projects in response to the challenges presented by COVID-19.

Our host organizations for positions beginning Fall 2020: 

Center for Craft – (Asheville, NC) – Craft in Virtual Spaces

Educational Video Center – (New York, NY) – Amplifying Youth Artist Activist Archive

Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage (Washington, DC) – Chronicling Community Artists during COVID-19

Arts Alliance Illinois (Chicago, IL) – Researching Relief: Policy and Civic Engagement

Central District Forum for Art & Ideas (Seattle, WA) – Expanding Access, Cultural Footprint

Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (North Adams, MA) – Centering Care in the Arts
