The Grand Marais Art Colony provides artists with work space in professional studios amidst the backdrop of a stunning landscape. An environment of creative freedom supports the process and development of new works, allowing for a combination of aesthetic inquiry, creative risk-taking, experimentation, and artistic development.

This is a fee-based residency which allows a group of 2 – 8 artists to schedule a session in one of GMAC’s professional studios. Artists can work with outside grant sources to fund their time with us. Studios include an Eco-Friendly Printmaking Studio, Ceramics Studio, Writing Room, and Multi-Discipline Studios.

Residents are able to stay in GMAC’s guest suite for a small fee.

Applications are currently open for 1 - 4 week long residencies being scheduled January - June, 2023. Applications for residencies scheduled during the July - December 2023 window will open on January 16, 2023.
