The Branigan Cultural Center, a museum in the Las Cruces Museum System, is holding a call for submissions for exhibitions with themes of cultural and historical significance relating to the Southwest to be presented in 2019. Branigan Cultural Center is accepting submissions from artists (solo and group shows), from formal and informal scholars, and cultural heritage organizations.  

 

Open Submission Information: 

- Proposals must be submitted via the link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/LCMS2018

- Exhibits will be in 2019 with dates to be determined by the Las Cruces Museum System.

- The Branigan Cultural Center displays exhibits in four different spaces, ranging from approximately 700 sq.ft. to 1,400 sq. ft. (30 linear feet to 115 linear feet).

- Final determination of which pieces will be displayed and square footage devoted to exhibits will be made by the Museum System exhibit staff.

- Preference will be given to exhibitions that demonstrate a strong connection to cultural and historic heritage of the Mesilla Valley and Southern New Mexico.

  

Proposals Must Include

- A brief (1-4 paragraphs) statement on the proposed exhibit, including type and medium/s of work to be exhibited, theme or general content of the show, and title of proposed show (should be more than “member show”).

- How the exhibit relates to a culturally or historical significant theme for our region.

- Artist(s) or scholar(s) resume(s) and/or a mission statement for a cultural heritage organization or other group, including an exhibition record.

- 10 high resolution jpg images of the works intended for exhibition (or works of similar style and quality to be exhibited.)

- Estimated linear and/or square footage of exhibition space needed.

- Materials/media to be used in works.

 

Deadline

 Proposals will be accepted February 28 through 5pm Saturday, April 7, 2018. Notification will be delivered by mid-May.

  

All submissions must be delivered digitally via the SurveyMonkey link. Incomplete packages will not be included in the jury’s final decision packet.
