Burlington Contemporary: call for papers

Type: Calls For Papers [View all]
Posted by: Burlington Contemporary / The Burlington Magazine
Deadline: Mon, August 12th, 2019

Burlington Contemporary is a free-access, peer reviewed academic journal, which launched its first issue in May 2019. Contributors included Michael Bracewell, Julia Bryan-Wilson, Massa Lemu and Jenni Sorkin, on topics ranging from the post-Punk origins of the YBAs to performance art in South Africa and the DRC.

We are currently seeking article submissions for our second issue. We hope to address the question of how to write art history for the art being made today, as well as to bring together the most important research and thinking on contemporary art from around the world.

Burlington Contemporary welcomes submissions of articles that deal with the work of living artists, or with work made in the last thirty years. Articles should be the result of new research that has not been published elsewhere. Submissions are judged in relation to their international and lasting significance to the field of contemporary art. All submissions are subject to peer review from an academic board.

Before submitting an article, you are encouraged to contact the editor with a brief outline of your proposal. For guidelines please visit our website
