Type: Residencies, Workshops, Exchanges [View all]
Posted by: North Louisiana Artist-in-Residence | Ross Lynn Foundation
Deadline: Mon, December 30th, 2019

The North Louisiana Artist-in-Residence is a residency of the Ross Lynn Charitiable Foundation (RLCF), furthering our mission of growing lives that give back and expanding the arts culture in North Louisiana. Each year the AiR has a unqiue theme relating to some aspect of the region with the specific location and medium changing from year to year.

The 2020 North Louisiana AiR will take place during March in Ruston, LA. The selected theme is Sustaining Local Food Systems and does not have a specified medium, it is open to any artist wishing to apply. Housing, internet, and some meals will be covered along with a stipend for living expenses. Currently, the North Louisiana AiR is only open to artists living in the United States.

This opportunity will provide two artists the chance to spend four weeks immersing themselves in understanding the challenges and successes experiened in North Louisiana’s local food system. RLCF will connect them with farmers, chefs, organizers, local artists, and community members to help them engage with all aspects of a local food system. During the month, the artists will also be provided tickets to the Back To Your Roots Conference on sustainable agriculutre in Bossier City, LA.

The goal of the residency is:

-for the artists to each develop a body of work reflecting their experience

-to continue the conversation about supporting local and regnerative food production

-to develop relationships between our residents and the communities in North Louisiana

This is a community focused experience with a balance of social engagement and solitary reflection. Additionally, RLCF will work with the artists after the completion of the residency to create an exhibition in North Louisiana presenting the developed work from the experience.

The deadline to apply is December 30th, 2019 at 11:59 CST
