Registration Information
Benefits of Registration

Full-conference registrants receive a conference badge, conference tote, a PDF download of the digital publication Abstracts 2019, and online access to the Directory of Attendees. Prepurchased special events tickets may be picked up at check-in. Please note: Only Annual Conference registrants who opted to purchase the print program during the online early registration process will receive the print program in their tote bag.

Conference Program: CAA recognizes the need to be mindful of being “green” and we only want to print as many programs as our attendees will use. You may access the full conference program via the conference app (available to everyone for free), conference website, or a downloadable PDF of the print program. If you would like the print program, it is available for purchase during the early registration process online and on the registration form for $10. Those who wish to opt out of the printed program may do so when registering online.

PLEASE NOTE: Only Annual Conference registrants who opted to purchase the print program during the early registration online will receive the print program at registration. All individuals participating in a ninety minute conference session (e.g. chairs, speakers, discussants) will receive a print program.

Badges: A conference badge entitles full-conference registrants access to all sessions, the Book and Trade Fair, the Cultural and Academic Network Hall, and free admission to select area museums. Please wear your badge at all times. There is a $25 charge to replace a lost badge.

Directory of Attendees: All full conference registrants can search the Directory of Attendees online (you must be logged into your Individual Member Account to view the Directory). It contains the name, address, affiliation, email address, and phone number of all early registrants who chose to be included; if you do not want to be listed, please be sure to indicate that you want to opt out of the Directory by selecting that option during online registration or by checking the appropriate box on the registration form. The Directory of Attendees is dynamic and changes daily based on registrants who opt in to the database.

Abstracts 2019: The PDF download of Abstracts 2019 is free for conference registrants. Non-registrants may purchase the download on site for $35.

Press Registration

CAA welcomes members of the press to attend the 107th Annual Conference to be held February 13—16, 2019, at the New York Hilton Midtown. Press passes allow members to attend any and all sessions and to enter the Book and Trade Fair and Cultural and Academic Network Hall. Press-pass holders will also receive the Conference Program and online access to the Directory of Attendees. The press pass does not include entrance to ticketed special events or ticketed workshops. Please note that conference passes cannot be provided to those members of the press not on assignment and are nontransferrable.

If you are a journalist and would like to obtain a press pass, please contact Nick Obourn, Director of communications, marketing, and membership, at nobourn@collegeart.org at 212-392-4401 or Joelle Te Paske, media and content manager, at jtepaske@collegeart.org or 212-392-4426. Press credentials required at press registration booth pickup.

Community Standards

The CAA Annual Conference provides an important and unique forum for those in the visual arts to exchange ideas, engage with colleagues, and participate in professional development and mentoring opportunities.

We make all efforts to provide a safe, inclusive, and welcoming conference in which all can actively participate.

All participants and attendees must adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Treat others with respect and consideration, valuing the diversity of views and opinions that may differ from one’s own
  • Communicate with respect for others
  • Critique ideas rather than individuals
  • Avoid personal attacks directed toward other participants and attendees
  • Be mindful of your colleagues and your surroundings
  • Exercise professionalism at all times

While CAA values freedom of expression, the following actions will not be tolerated at the Annual Conference, either on or off site:

  • physical or verbal harassment, threats, intimidation, or discrimination of any kind
  • derogatory comments or actions related to gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic class, disability, physical appearance, ethnicity, race, religion, citizenship status, county of origin, political views, or any other self-identifier
  • unwelcomed sexual pursuits or stalking perceived as threatening in nature directed at any conference participant, attendee, or staff member
  • behavior deemed to be excessively loud or disruptive of a meeting or any other event taking place during the Annual Conference
  • unlawful conduct or activity of any kind

REPORTING INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR:

  • If you are the subject of or witness to conduct in violation of these standards at the Annual Conference, do not hesitate to notify a CAA staff member, who will immediately contact the executive director to address the situation.
  • CAA will use all reasonable efforts to respond to and resolve the matter in a timely manner while being respectful of the parties to ensure the continued integrity and quality of the conference.
  • Anyone experiencing or witnessing behavior that constitutes a threat to public safety at the Annual Conference in the conference hotel is advised to promptly locate a house phone, dial “0”, and request "Security."

These Community Standards have been set in place to ensure the safety of all attendees. CAA, at all times, reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to see that individuals acting contrary to these standards are removed from the conference or any conference-related meeting or event and has the right to prohibit attendance at any future conference.

PLAGIARISM

As a scholarly organization devoted to the pursuit of independent scholarship, CAA does not condone theft or plagiarism of anyone’s scholarship, whether presented orally or in writing. Participants at the conference are not allowed to make audio or video recordings of any session at the Annual Conference, without the expressed permission of all presenters.

By registering for the CAA Annual Conference, attendees grant CAA the right to take video images and photographs of attendees in connection with the conference. Attendees authorize CAA to use and publish the images in print and/or electronically. Attendees agree that CAA may use such photographs with or without attendee name and for any lawful purpose, including publicity, illustration, advertising, and web content.

There are no refunds on Annual Conference registration.
