Call for Artists: Temporary Institute of Early Art

Type: Exhibition Opportunities [View all]
Posted by: Pancake House
Deadline: Wed, September 30th, 2020

Pancake House, a small multipurpose art space located in south Minneapolis, seeks three artists for its Temporary Institute of Early Art. Part of the Early Art Initiative, contributing artists will create original work in response to early art and artifacts. No prior experience working with early art is required, but artists should take an active interest in developing their practice through research and historiography. Each selected artist will receive a $100 stipend.

This opportunity is presented in partnership with the Hill Museum and Manuscript Library (HMML). Located at Saint John’s University in Collegeville, Minnesota, the HMML holds the world’s largest archive of manuscript photographs in both microfilm and digital format. Artists will be asked to select an item archived within the HMML’s virtual repository to serve as a basis for their original work.
