Works on Paper 2024 - National Juried Competition

The Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts and Sciences, LBI, New Jersey

"Works on Paper" 2024 is the 26th Annual National Juried Competition and Exhibition at the Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts & Sciences, Long Beach Island, New Jersey. Works on Paper can include but is not limited to Drawing, Painting on Paper, hand pulled Prints, Photographic Prints, Digital Works on Paper, and Paper constructions that can be wall hung. The Juror will select 65 artworks to be on display in our spacious Gallery.

The Juror for 2024 is Kim Conaty, Curator of Drawings & Prints, the Whitney Museum of American Art, NYC.

Kim Conaty is the Steven and Ann Ames Curator of Drawings and Prints at the Whitney Museum of American Art. In addition to overseeing the management and growth of the Whitney’s collection of drawings and prints, she has organized several exhibitions there, including Ruth Asawa Through Line (2023); Edward Hopper’s New York (2022); Nothing Is So Humble: Prints from Everyday Objects (2020), and Mary Corse: A Survey in Light (2018).  The recipient of a Fulbright Fellowship and Clark Fellowship, Conaty holds a Ph.D. in the History of Art from the Institute of Fine Arts, NYU, and a Master’s degree from Williams College.

EXHIBITION DATES:
May 18 - July 8, 2024

AWARDS: $1,000 first prize, $250 second prize, $100 third prize and three honorable mentions.

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION:

The 26th annual exhibition, National Juried Competition "Works on Paper" 2024 at the Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts & Sciences welcomes entries of original work, created within the last two years, which explore the varied media which utilize Paper.  The Competition and Exhibition is open to emerging as well as established artists working in the continental US. Works on Paper can include, but are not limited to drawing, painting on paper, hand-pulled prints, photographic prints, digitally created artwork displayed as prints, and paper constructions which may be wall hung.

CATALOG: A printed catalog of selected artwork is planned to accompany the Gallery exhibition.  

SPECIFICATIONS:
Artists 18 years and older, residing in the continental USA, are eligible. 
Works on Paper can include, but are not limited to: drawing, painting on paper, hand-pulled prints, photography, digitally created artwork displayed as prints, photographic prints, and paper construction that are wall hung. Entries must have been created within the last two years and not been previously shown at LBIF.
 
Should you be accepted to the Works on Paper Exhibition, your work will appear online for sale in the "gallery store" section of the lbifoundation.org website for the duration of the exhibition.

April 8: Accepted entries posted on LBIF website by this date; artists will also be notified by email.
Information for the printed Catalog will be requested by April 10. 
May 8: Work must be received by this date at LBIF
May 18 - July 8: Exhibition dates
Prizes & Awards announced by the Juror during Reception for the artists.

July 9, 2024: Unsold Artwork returned to artists after close of show.

ABOUT THE LBIF:
Celebrating our 76th anniversary, the Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts & Sciences (LBIF) was established in 1948 as a non-profit institution by artist Boris Blai to provide arts and educational opportunities to the surrounding communities.  Blai, a sculptor and founding Dean of Tyler School of Art, Temple University, had a vision that through exceptional art exhibitions, classes, and cultural activities the LBIF could provide visitors an opportunity to experience and share quality arts and cultural programming.  For more than seventy-five years the LBIF has delivered this mission through its Exhibition programs, Art Classes, Visiting Artists programs, Artist Residency and Retreat Program.
