The Critical Theory Workshop's 16 Annual Summer School

Type: Residencies, Workshops, Exchanges [View all]
Posted by: Critical Theory Workshop
Deadline: Wed, May 1st, 2024

The CTW’s Summer School provides an international forum for trans-disciplinary and politically relevant research that contributes to a coherent and systematic elucidation of the contemporary world. Participants are exposed to the work of contemporary thinkers and engage with current debates with leading scholars from around the globe. Special attention is paid to traditions of thought that have been sidelined or suppressed in the academy, including Marxism, the black radical tradition, anticolonial theory, socialist feminism, revolutionary thought from the Global South and radical ecological thought.

The summer program is organized around rigorous collective debates and theory in action. Our invited guests are asked to share work in progress and participate in discussions of their research. Participants have ample opportunities to engage with the scholarship of the invited speakers and formulate questions for them. They also participate in broader discussions concerning the work presented and their own research.

Due to the Olympics causing the cost of living to skyrocket in France, we will be holding the CTW Summer School online from June 3, 2024 to June 14, 2024. To make the best of this shift, we are inviting a stellar lineup of speakers from around the world who couldn’t have made it in person. Applications for the program are due May 1, but there is a rolling admissions policy so early applications are encouraged! For more information, check out our website!
