NOVEL THEMES AND PROBLEMS IN CONTEMPORARY STREET ART

Conference at Georgia State University: October 9-10, 2025

*Call for Papers*

 We invite paper submissions for a conference on the philosophy of street art to be held October 9-10, 2025 at Georgia State University in Atlanta.

Submissions on any philosophical topic about street art are welcome. Below is a list of suggested themes.

Street Art, Community, and Aesthetic Value

Street Art as Antithetical to Mainstream Art

Sanctioned vs Unsanctioned Street Art

Street Art vs. Public Art or Community Art

Gentrification and Street Art

Commercialization and Street Art

Street Art and Subversive Power

Street Art and Gender, Race, and Class

Street Art and Social Justice

Street Art and Advertising

We invite submissions from professional philosophers (an academic appointment in a philosophy department is not necessary) and graduate students working in philosophy. Membership in the American Society for Aesthetics is required.

The extended deadline for papers (3000 words-max) is May 31, 2025. Include an abstract (250 words-max). Decisions will be made by June 13.
