Open Call: The Great Lakes Drawing Biennial

The 2026 Great Lakes Drawing Biennial (GLDB) is a juried exhibition open to artists nationwide and free to enter. Hosted by Eastern Michigan University’s School of Art & Design, it highlights current artistic activity in contemporary drawing. The 2026 GLDB will be juried by Erika B. Hess, a nationally recognized painter, Artistic Director of Visual Arts at Chautauqua Institution, and creator of the popular art podcast- I Like Your Work. ELIGIBILITY: Open to artists 18 years and older. All works must be original, ready to exhibit, completed within the last 2 years, and not previously exhibited at Eastern Michigan University. ENTRY FORMAT Entries will be judged from digital image files. Digital files submitted to SlideRoom must be in JPEG format (300 dpi at approximately 4"x6"). Up to 3 submissions are allowed per artist.

CALENDAR:

Call for entries opens November 1st.

Call for entries closes December 15th.

Notification of accepted works sent on December 22nd.

Deadlines for receipt of accepted works is January 6th 2026.

Exhibit runs from January 12th to March 7th 2026. 

Public Reception held Thursday February 12 from 4:30-6:30pm.

Return Shipping in mid March.
