Nestled in a historic, walkable neighborhood in Morgantown, West Virginia, Sallery Studios is a newly developing independent artist residency designed by art professionals, for art professionals. Morgantown offers the perfect intersection of creative energy and natural solitude—a progressive, scenic college town tucked into the beautiful Appalachian hills, boasting a vibrant downtown, local galleries, the West Virginia University Art Museum, and immediate access to world-class outdoor trails and rivers.

Sallery Studios will offer artists the physical space and critical dialogue needed to deepen their practice. The residency will feature dedicated private wet studios alongside private living quarters. Residents will benefit from a deeply supportive curatorial framework, including formal studio visits with an independent curator, intimate open-studio public sharings, and meaningful immersion into the local community.

Whether you are looking to spend 1 to 4 weeks diving into a focused project, engaging in social practice, or drawing inspiration from the wild Appalachian landscape, Sallery Studios provides a distinct regional context to catalyze your work.

Now Seeking Input: We are currently shaping our inaugural programs and facilities. International and domestic artists are invited to help build this space from the ground up by taking our brief 4-minute survey. All respondents receive a priority application review and a waived application fee for our inaugural open call.
