ARTBOOK

Artbook | D.A.P. is America’s premier source for books on art, photography, design and aesthetic culture.

Now in its third decade, D.A.P. has grown into a major international distributor of books from some of the world’s most respected museums and publishers, including The Museum of Modern Art, New York, DelMonico Books, Hatje Cantz, Inventory Press, Lars Müller Publishers, Royal Academy of Arts, London, Soberscove Press, and Siglio, to name only a few. You can view our complete list of publishers here.

Please visit our website, artbook.com, where our titles are available to educators at a 40% discount (plus free shipping within the continental United States). Simply apply coupon code exam40 at checkout. We have also put together thematic book lists and examination copy offers.

Scroll down to see a selection of our favorite new and recently released titles for teachers and students, including The New York Tapes: Alan Solomon’s Interviews for Television, 1965–66, which will be the subject of the session panel Interview as Model on Friday, February 18 from 9–10:30 AM CST / 10–11:30 AM EST.

Please join us at this virtual panel, where Matthew Simms, Jennifer Sichel and Sam Sackeroff will discuss the phenomenon of the artist interview in the age of mass communication, using as a model the interviews conducted by pioneering curator Alan Solomon in the 1960s for television and research—with artists ranging from Jasper Johns to Helen Frankenthaler to Robert Irwin. (Note: the session link will posted 20 minutes prior to start time.)

We are delighted to be back at the College Art Association’s Annual Conference and look forward to "seeing" you in our online booth—and hopefully in person again next year!

The Artist Book Foundation

The Artist Book Foundation (TABF), is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that celebrates the lives and work of contemporary and historic artists through publications, educational outreach, and book donations. Its core principle is to document and share vital information that encompasses a creative culture for the benefit of all those interested in the visual arts.

TABF works collaboratively with artists, museums, scholars, and collectors to develop catalogues raisonnés, monographs, surveys, and exhibition catalogues. TABFs books are found in the library collections of major museums, universities, and arts institutions in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Australia, in addition to all 50 states in the US.

Through its directed book donation program of 15% of each print run, TABF has delivered thousands of copies to underserved public libraries, schools, correctional and rehabilitation centers across America.

As a nonprofit organization with a global reach, TABF promotes visual arts and access to innovative and culturally rich content. It’s next major endeavor is an interactive initiative that will extend the reach of the printed book with digital formats and enhanced curricula to improve community and student engagement.

TABF invites new audiences into the dynamic and diverse worlds of art and art history and encourages the belief that art reaches across subject matter as well as racial, ethnic, and religious divides to establish crucial connections between all members of society. The gallery and events at TABF are always free to the public and all are welcome!

Derwent

We still make our pencils in the place where graphite was discovered in England’s Lake District and we haven’t stopped pushing the boundaries of pencil making since we founded The Cumberland Pencil Company (now, Derwent) there in 1916. Today whilst crafting pencils for the world you’ll find us experimenting with tomorrow’s formulations and pigments. And if we’re not doing that, we’re reinventing the rules of art materials entirely.

For instance, Inktense, a unique water-soluble pencil that’s permanent when dry, or Lightfast the oil-based pencil that guarantees vibrancy for over 100 years.

What’s our secret? We ask the questions that seem to get overlooked. We’re respectful of tradition but not bound by it. We put pioneering creative and scientific minds together to collaborate and discover.

We can’t tell you much more, but we can promise to keep pushing our boundaries so that artists can keep pushing theirs.

Founded in 2000 and relaunched in 2021, SabbaticalHomes.com is still run by the founder and her dedicated team in Los Angeles. Last year’s upgrade brought the website up to current technology standards: improving the functionality, updating how home and tenant listings display, creating more robust messaging for improved privacy and increasing security measures.

Overall, we worked hard to make each section as intuitive as possible, and it was important to make the website easier to use on a phone or tablet. We hope you have a chance to explore SabbaticalHomes.com to discover temporary homes (and tenants looking for homes) around the world!

Live Online Events

You don't have to be going on sabbatical to use SabbaticalHomes.com! Our members find tenants and homes on our website for research trips, relocations, vacations, writing retreats and, of course, sabbaticals. All of our listings have house sitting and home sharing options for members to customize.

Find out tips on using this unique temporary housing platform at one of our SabbaticalHomes.com Q&A Sessions (the sign up form is on the SabbaticalHomes.com Exhibitor page) or email Becky McCalla at bmccalla@sabbaticalhomes.com to request a private 15-minute Q&A Session. Please include CAA 2022 in the subject line of your email.

We are distributed in the U.S. and Canada by W.W. Norton & Company.

Thames & Hudson

Built upon the principle of creating a “museum without walls,” Walter and Eva Neurath founded Thames & Hudson in 1949. They established offices in London and New York, thus giving rise to the company name – the Thames and Hudson rivers both represented by two dolphins symbolizing friendship and intelligence, one facing east, one west. Since its inception, Thames & Hudson has become the global market’s pre-eminent publisher of illustrated books. Our catalog of beautifully printed volumes includes a wide variety of titles on art, art history, design, and architecture, including our signature World of Art series, the bestselling art appreciation textbook Gateways to Art, and the new, highly anticipated title, The History of Art: A Global View.

University of California Press

The University of California Press is an award-winning publisher of scholarly and trade titles on art and visual culture. With a long tradition of publishing on American art, the press cultivates authors who challenge previously established boundaries in the field, amplify the voices of understudied artists, and forge new methods of studying visual culture, especially through transnational scholarship. Designed to drive change and give voice, reach, and impact to the brightest minds, our titles range from lavishly-illustrated scholarly studies, important primary source anthologies, and exhibition catalogs co-published in partnership with major museums across the nation. The art list features books that are in conversation with the deeply interdisciplinary lists at UC Press as a whole, and together, they better enable us to understand the place of visual culture in the world.

University of Chicago Press

The University of Chicago Press is the largest—and one of the oldest continually operating—scholarly presses in the country. Refining minds since 1890!
